What is included in my bottle?

A message and contact info. Bottles will contain a message of your or our choice, written by hand in oak gall ink on authentic animal parchment. We include the receiver’s address to better ensure land-bound arrival, as well as indications of sender and port of departure. We can include any written information the sender deems useful for arrival. 

What kind of bottle is used?

Glass. We do not use plastic. We use recycled bottles, but cannot guarantee that they are “vintage” nor clear, brown, green, or blue. Specific indications may be requested at additional charge. 

Is it bad for the environment? 

No. The ideal situation is that your recycled bottle will arrive one way or another and will not end up as garbage.

Can bottles dropped in the ocean be tracked?

No. Although we are interested in the possibilities of gps tracking, at this time the technology is unavailable, so we prefer the adventure of the unknown for now. 

When will my bottle arrive? 

We don’t know. We depend on the currents, the kindness of strangers, and good luck for delivery. Depending on the point of departure and arrival, bottles can take weeks or months to arrive. Some bottles may never arrive. Besides a message, each bottle includes an address and contact info, as you wish. 

Can I ship anywhere?

Yes. Within each bottle we include a final address for the note to arrive. The bottle is only a vehicle, and we hope that by sea or land, your message will arrive at its destination. Our bottles are launched near Rome in the Mediterranean, and near Plymouth, MA. Please specify a desired departure point when ordering. 

How do I know my bottle was shipped?

We will send you and/or the recipient a formal email with the date, time, and position of launch, together with an image or short video, on request. 

What information should I include?

Upon ordering please include on our form:

1. The recipients full address and any other information you wish to include (cell phone).

2. A personal message to the recipient of maximum one line, or we can personalize a poetic message.

3. Your preferred place of launch, Italy or the US.
